How Prescription Solutions Work with Magna Lens®

Magna Lens protective eyewear is built using a single-shield wraparound lens design, the same format used in most modern ballistic and industrial safety eyewear. This design provides superior coverage, protection, and optical clarity - but by nature, a one-piece shield lens cannot be manufactured with an individual prescription.

To provide prescription vision while maintaining this high-performance design, Magna Lens uses a dedicated Prescription Insert System that sits securely behind the protective shield.

Two Components Make Up the Prescription Solution

You will see two related items on this page because prescription use involves two separate components:

1. Prescription Insert Frame

  • A lightweight internal frame that holds your prescription lenses
  • Designed specifically to integrate with Magna Lens eyewear
  • Cost: $20
  • Purchased once and reusable if your prescription changes

2. Prescription Lenses (Optional - We Can Make Them for You)

  • We can fabricate lenses to fit the insert
  • Single-Vision Lenses: $60

Typical Total for Prescription Setup:

$20 (insert) + $60 (single-vision lenses) = $80 -- (This is in addition to the cost of the protective eyewear itself, such as the ML Pro.)

To make lenses, we simply need a valid prescription that includes your PD (Pupillary Distance) measurement. Lead time for prescription lenses is typically 2-3 weeks.

Options for Progressive or Bifocal Lenses

While we can produce progressive or bifocal lenses, these lens types require an additional measurement called segment height.

This measurement can only be taken while you are physically wearing the Magna Lens eyewear with the insert installed, because proper alignment depends on how the frame sits on your face.

For this reason, customers choosing progressives or bifocals typically follow this process:

  1. Purchase your Magna Lens eyewear and prescription insert.
  2. Bring the eyewear (with insert installed, no lenses yet) to your local optometrist.
  3. Your optometrist measures segment height and fits lenses directly into the insert.

Alternative Option - We Can Still Make the Lenses

If your optometrist prefers, they may take all measurements while you are wearing the Magna Lens eyewear and then provide you with the complete prescription (including PD and segment height).

You can then send that information to us, and we will fabricate the lenses for your insert. The cost of progressive or bifocal lenses is $100 and is charged through a custom order after speaking with someone on our team.
